About Me

*Please note I am currently away on maternity leave until Fall 2023*

I'm so glad you're here! Let me tell you a little bit about my professional background.

I have my Master degree in Educational Counselling and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have been providing psychotherapeutic support to clients since 2013.  For three years I worked with an Employee Assistance Program providing counselling support to individuals in crisis, from a Short-Term Solution-Focused approach to counselling. I also have worked with a youth mental health promotion organization supporting young people with diverse mental health needs in group settings and providing education in schools as well as two community-based counselling centres in the city and have been working in private practice since 2015.

As a counsellor and psychotherapist I take a very client centered approach to our work together; you are the expert in your own life, and I would be honoured to be a guide for you in your process of change. What this means is that your personal experience is our starting point and together we can build awareness about what has been happening to lead you to where you are now. I do not have all of the answers or a quick fix to your situation, but together we can begin to make meaning out of your experience and take on new perspectives or understanding in order to move forward.

I help individual adults who are experiencing distress due to anxiety, depression, stress, work-related issues, family issues, grief, relationships, among other concerns. I have a special interest in working with clients on issues related to perinatal mental health, including fertility challenges, pre-conception, pregnancy loss and birth trauma as well as the life transition to parenthood. I work from an integrative or eclectic approach to counselling (primarily using Client Centered approach or drawing from an approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), with a focus on one’s emotional experience. I will adapt my own style to fit your personal needs and goals for counselling. Together, we can collaborate to gain insight about your situation and make meaningful change towards reducing your distress. I consult with and am mentored by a psychologist (Dr. Virginia Simonds).
